Join the Student Veteran Panel in welcoming Mike Pereira to UMKC. 

Mike Pereira is from Bellingham, WA where, in 2000 at the age of 18, he enlisted into the Army as an Analyst. Mike has been deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq. Coming home after his service, Mike began to feel the weight of his transition from soldier to civilian. He was diagnosed with a complex anxiety disorder and PTSD from his time in the desert.

Mike will share his story and how he has found success with The Mission Continues. He will also discuss ways that campuses may work towards better engagement with student veterans and strategies to meet their unique needs as students.

The Student Veteran Panel is made up of UMKC students Veterans and will be an open forum to discuss the unique experiences of today’s military student Veterans as they transition from military to academic life.
