New Automatic Scholarships Plan

In an effort to increase first-time college enrollment at UMKC, a strategic scholarship plan has been developed in conjunction with recommendations provided by consulting firm Ruffalo Noel Levitz. This plan consists of increasing scholarship funding in first-time college merit-based awards beginning in the fall of 2019 to remain competitive in the market while maximizing net tuition revenue.

Below is a summary of those scholarship changes.

Apply for the 2018 Friends of the Library Scholarship

Apply Now: $1000 Scholarship from UMKC Friends of the Library

This $1,000 Scholarship is available to any UMKC student with a minimum 3.0 GPA and currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree seeking program.

The scholarship winner will be selected based on their written response to the following prompt:

“Change and disruption are not only buzzwords. Technology, economy and politics are forces that are changing the world as we know it … at a fast pace. Libraries are embracing these changes and have different strategies for maintaining and increasing their relevance to their local communities.”*  Reflect on specific ways the UMKC Libraries are or should be embracing the fast paced changes in our world.

 

To apply, please submit the following to fol@umkc.edu:

  • Your name, student ID, e-mail address, and phone number
  • Please indicate your degree being sought, department, and expected graduation date
  • 500-1000 word original point-of-view writing piece addressing the above question

Deadline for entry is Friday, March 23rd, 2018**

2018-2019 Competitive Scholarship Application Now Open

The application for competitive undergraduate UMKC scholarships for the 2018-2019 academic year is now available on-line.  This application allows currently enrolled full-time students to apply for most scholarships with one form.  Review the list of competitive scholarships for currently enrolled undergraduate students on the Financial Aid and Scholarships Website (please note that some scholarships require a separate application).

The competitive scholarship application can be completed and submitted on-line by logging-in at this site.  You will also need to submit 2 letters of reference.  Some scholarships also require completion of the FAFSA.  All application materials must be submitted by March 1, 2018.

Additional scholarship opportunities may be available within your Academic Unit and department. Be sure to check with your advisor to learn more.

2017-2018 FAFSA Now Available – priority deadline is Feb 1, 2017

fafsa-2Don’t miss out on money!  The 2017-2018 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now available!  Every student should submit an application to see what you may qualify for–not only federal loans, but many scholarships and grant programs (FREE money) use the FAFSA to determine need eligibility.

NEW priority deadline is February 1, 2017.  UMKC’s School Code is 002518.

Tip:  When entering tax information into the FAFSA, consider using the IRS Data Retrieval tool.  It’s fast, easy and accurate.
