EWeek 2016National Engineers Week (E-Week) is an annual celebration of the engineering field and the positive impact that engineers make in the world. Organized nationally by the DiscoverE organization, this week is a time to build awareness of the profession and inspire the next generation of engineers.

At UMKC’s School of Computing and Engineering, E-Week is celebrated with many events such as the Mr. Engineer competition, ASCE’s Concrete Bowling, the Baja Pit Crew Challenge and the Egg Drop. All students are encouraged to join the festivities.

The celebration is not just fun and games. During the week, students also can take part in meaningful and inspiring activities to prepare for their own careers and help foster the interest of future engineers. Annually, students participate in career-building activities and volunteer at events such as the RooBuilders bridge-building competition for high school students. E-Week activities are sponsored by UMKC Engineers Without Borders, IEEE and Robotics Team, Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Olsson and Associates, Human Powered Vehicle Team, Baja Buggy Team, Association for Computing Machinery, Eta Kappa Nu, National Society of Black Engineers, Tau Beta Pi, Pi Tau Sigma, TSCE STUCO, SCE Student Affairs, SCE Alumni Association and UMKC Athletics.
