Have a Safe and Happy Winter Break!

As finals are coming closer and preparations to travel home for the holidays are being made, keep in mind safety as well as fun.  If you are driving, look over our past post over safe winter driving tips.  If you are flying, make sure you are up to date on TSA regulations.  Make sure you get a full night’s rest before you begin your travels — it makes for a safer and more enjoyable travel experience!

Faculty Evaluation Now Available

Please take a moment to log-on to a special website to complete a one-question survey on the effectiveness of your professors’ teaching this semester.  As a requirement for Missouri Senate Bill 389  (SB 389), student-generated ratings must be available to all students during the semester in which a given faculty member is teaching a course. 

The survey is available at https://www.umkc.edu/SB389.  Your survey response is confidential.  Please note that only courses with more than 10 students are eligible for evaluation.  The survey will be available until December 17th, 2010.

Preparing for Finals Seminar

Finals are quickly approaching for this semester. Do you need some extra study tips on how to study for your finals? During this week’s seminar we will be discussing different types of finals, ways to approach certain finals in regards to studying. Obviously it is important to study in order to do well on your exams, but it is also important to take care of yourself in order to do well while studying on during your exam. We will be discussion ways on how to relax and ways of taking care of yourself to minimize anxiety and stress before the big exam.

Extended Library Hours

To help you prepare for upcoming finals, the Miller Nichols Library hours have been extended now through the end of finals week. With the newly renovated information commons on the 1st floor, the staff will be there ready to assist you with anything you may need. Additional study space is also now available on the 2nd floor, and as always the 4th floor is reserved for quiet study only.

Also, if you need help polishing up that final term paper, the Writing Center hosts assistance hours in the library Monday-Wednesday 5:30-8:00pm, and Saturday 11:00am-5:00pm.

Extended Hours for Miller Nichols Library are as follows:

  • Monday, Dec 6th – Thursday, Dec 9th:  7:30 a.m. – 1 a.m.
  • Friday, December 10th:  7:30 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 11th:  9:00 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 12th:  12 noon – 1 a.m.
  •  Monday Dec 13th – Wednesday Dec 15th:  7:30 a.m. – 1 a.m.
  • Thursday Dec 16th:  7:30 a.m. – 11 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec 17th:  7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
