UMKC Partnering with the 2015 AIDS Walk

By , March 24, 2015 8:52 am

AIDS-RibbonThe AIDS Walk Kansas City 2015 will be held on Saturday, April 25 at Theis Park. The walk is 3.4 miles and will take approximately 2.5 hours. Registration opens at 8 a.m.; the program with music and fun begins at 9; and the walk starts at 10 a.m.

UMKC is partnering with the AIDS Walk – this year in an even bigger way. The planning committee has adapted the route so that approximately one third of the walk will be on campus. The route will hit our campus at the intersection of Volker and Rockhill, travel south on Cherry  St. to 52nd St., over to Oak St. and 52nd St., and then north up to Theis Park. The entire walk will take place on sidewalks, and no streets will be closed.

More than 3,500 walkers are expected to participate in the free event. There is no charge to walk.

Theis Park is located at the intersection of Emanuel Cleaver II Blvd. and Oak St., east of the Plaza and south of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer along the UMKC route to provide direction and support, visit the SignUpGenius at UMKC Walk.

For additional details about the walk, visit the AIDS Walk Kansas City website.
