The play tells the story, set in 1930s Los Angeles, of a marathon dance competition with the desperate and unemployed who dance for weeks and sometimes until death to win fame and money.

“This true American classic depicts the frailty and strength of the human spirit during times of great hardship,” remarks director Barry Kyle. “… The characters dance themselves to near death, so desperate are they to win money or fame. No one knows who is going to win and no one can anticipate how much the competition will change them forever.

This show runs April 23- May 1 in Spencer Theatre of the Performing Arts Center on UMKC’s Campus. For more information, visit their website or the Central Ticket Office in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center. You can also call at (816) 235-6222 for more ticketing information.
