UMKC Emergency Alert System Reminders

Even though winter weather may still be in the forecast, it’s also time for us to be thinking about the upcoming tornado season and a good time to update your emergency alert phone numbers and email addresses.

In the event of a natural disaster, such as a tornado warning, violent event or weather-related campus closing, an alert message will be transmitted to all faculty, staff and students via email, voice and/or text. In some cases, administration will decide to not send a voice alert. Voice alerts will often not be implemented when the alert is not deemed to be an emergency or may require frequent updates be sent (ex: suspected gas leak).

Existing UMKC phone numbers, umkc.edu e-mail accounts and other personal information provided by you at the time of employment or enrollment have already been entered in the system. You can update that information at any time.

Students can update their information via Pathway. Cell phone numbers must be entered in the cell phone field. Cell numbers listed in the primary phone field or other phone field will not receive text alerts.

Please be sure to proofread your information when updating. Typos or old phone numbers can only be corrected by you. Additional information can be found on the UMKC  Emergency Alert System website. For specific questions about the Rave alert system, please contact Alyssa Lally at lallyae@umkc.edu.
