Why Is A Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan Important?

UMKC will not assume any financial responsibility for your medical bills, and you are strongly encouraged to maintain health insurance.  If you have been covered by a parents’ policy, please review it carefully to make certain you are still eligible for coverage. Employer plans often do not cover students after they reach a certain age, and HMO’s may provide limited coverage when away from home.  If you are interested in learning more or if you are not adequately covered, be sure to take advantage of the University of Missouri-Kansas City Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan.

International Students

All non-immigrant international students, scholars and Optional Practical Training/Academic Training participants holding F or J visas attending UMKC are eligible for this coverage. Enrollment in this Plan is mandatory and automatic for all non-immigrant international students upon academic enrollment each semester.  Enrollment for Scholars and post-completion Optional Practical Training/Academic Training participants is optional and requires completion of an enrollment form each term.  Enrollment forms may be obtained at the International Student Affairs Office.

Insured Dental Program

It’s also time to enroll in Your Dental Plan.  Taking care of your teeth is a health priority.  Your school-sponsored Aetna Student Health insurance plan offers you a dental insurance plan that may fit your needs.
