Online Scholarship Resources

Most high schools spend a lot of time with their seniors helping them find the resources necessary to pay for college. They introduce you to a whole host of scholarship engines, full of scholarships just waiting to be handed out. However, these scholarship engines are not just for incoming freshmen and you can utilize them all throughout your college career!

By now, you’ve probably already filled out the FAFSA and figured out how much aid you’ll get from UMKC next year. Now before you accept all those student loans, take a look around some scholarship search engines (keep in mind that scholarships will potentially take the place of some of the loans you may receive, so be sure to alert your Financial Aid Coordinator about any other scholarships you receive so they can reduce your loans before they are disbursed to you).

Don’t trust every site on the web, but there are credible ones out there. The UMKC Financial Aid and Scholarships Office has a list of credible engines on their website, listed below. Also on their website is a link to “My College Dollars.” My College Dollars is a partnership between MTV, CollegeBoard, Get Schooled, and Facebook. It uses the information from your facebook profile to connect you with nearly $6 billion in scholarship money, and nearly $45 billion in federal and state grants.
