The Kangaroo Pantry at UMKC recently placed third in the #PeanutPower Snack Attack Challenge sponsored by the National Peanut Board. The award comes with a $500 donation and 1,000 units of peanut butter to help support the Kangaroo Pantry.

The contest challenged college service centers from around the U.S. to host a Snack Attack party and generate engagement and excitement about the power of peanuts through Twitter and Instagram using #peanutpower. The Kangaroo Pantry received #peanutenvy swag, a 25-pound bag of shelled peanuts and a $200 gift card to create a unique Peanut Power trail mix that was handed out at the party.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in the competition on campus,” said Angela Cottrell, director of UMKC Office of Student Involvement. “The Kangaroo Pantry client count grows every day and this additional prize money will allow us to keep the pantry stocked for the next few weeks. We hope that our ‘Roo family will continue to help donate financially or provide us with some of our most needed items.”
