Sesquicentennial, you ask?  This year marks the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the United States Civil War (1861-1865).  Join the UMKC Department of History at the Border Wars Conference November 10-12 at the Kansas City Library (Central and Plaza Branch) to learn more about how the Civil War was fought between Missouri and Kansas.  These conflicts were some of the bloodiest and most savage of the Civil War.

The Keynote speaker is Michael Fellman, “I Came not to Bring Peace, but a Sword” on Thursday, November 10 starting at 6pm at the Central Library.  Sessions on Friday and Saturday are at the Plaza Branch.  RSVPs are requested; all events are free.

For more local history, see the Missouri Sesquicentennial website.
