Services for Students with Disabilities

By , September 20, 2011 8:24 am

The Office of Services for Students with Disabilities is the focal point on the UMKC campus for services for students with disabilities.  Our goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment at UMKC for students with disabilities.  We do this by working with you to develop a set of academic accommodations that are designed to give you equal access to the learning environment here at UMKC.  We also partner across the University to create a campus atmosphere that makes all students with disabilities feel welcome and supported.

The first step is to call our office at 816.235.5696 and make an appointment.  We do require that students provide clinical documentation of their disability.  Guidelines for documenting various disabilities are on our website at http://www.umkc.edu/disability/documentation_current.asp.  During this meeting we’ll get acquainted, discuss your disability-related needs and agree upon a set of accommodations designed for you and they way your disability impacts you.  All accommodations are provided at no charge to you.

We are currently located in the University Center, on the upper level in Room 131.  However, beginning on or around October 1st we will be moving to the 4825 Troost location.  We are here to help, so stop by and see us!
