Undergraduate General Education Requirements

By , February 18, 2011 8:28 am

You may have read the article in UNews about the move to revise undergraduate general education requirements.  The General Education Oversight Committee (GEOC) was commissioned by the Provost charged with establishing a clear set of learning outcomes for our general education program.  These learning outcomes identify the foundational skills necessary for students to be successful both at UMKC now and in the future.

At this time, the GEOC would like to invite student participation in this process.  Your input is valuable as we move forward with general education reform at UMKC.  These are, after all, the core of a student’s education at UMKC!  The GEOC has created a survey that will allow you to provide feedback on each of the proposed learning outcomes.  Please follow the following link to submit your comments: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CS7QSR5

Roo-minations — Episode 1

By , February 15, 2011 8:00 am

UMKC introduces a new monthly feature, “Roo-minations,” which asks students to answer a question. This month’s question is, “What is your favorite class this semester and why?” Hear undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of disciplines answer this question, and watch for a special song at 2:20!

What is a Roo-mination? Here’s our definition: Roo•mi•na•tion [roo-muh-ney-shun] noun, what a UMKC roo thinks.

What question should we ask next? Submit questions to umkcpublicrelations@umkc.edu.
