November is National Scholarship Month!  Don’t miss out on awards for which you may qualify!  Start looking and applying EARLY!

Below are some other helpful tips from the UMKC Financial Aid and Scholarships Office to get you started!

  • Check out UMKC’s competitive scholarships–the application is available now!  Be sure to check with your Academic Unit for other scholarship opportunities!
  • Use the scholarship search engines on www.sfa.edu
  • Complete any and all remaining financial aid paperwork for this year before the semester ends, and contact your financial aid office if you have any questions or concerns with your awards.
  • Review your Pathway account regularly to know what your financial aid and billing status are.
  • Take a financial literacy course–there are courses offered each Monday at 3:00pm in the Student Union, room 302. They are called Money Mondays .
  • Set up a budget and time management calendar for the year, including financial aid and scholarship deadlines.
  • Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after January 1st to increase your chances of receiving all the financial aid for which you are eligible.  Priority deadline is March 1st.
  • Make a student loan folder for all documents from the lender.  This is also helpful for your taxes…if you need a folder, stop by Financial Aid for one!
