Making a Plan Towards Graduation and Beyond

This week’s workshop will discuss how your educational path here at UMKC will help lead you into your career after graduation.  Career Services will also be on hand to give tips on creating your resume as well as a cover letter.  Overwhelmed with the job searching process and then what to do once you have applied for a job, or a few? We will be discussing some tips and strategies on how to search for your perfect job after graduation and go over a few interview techniques and strategies to help you land that dream job.

Test Anxiety? Come to this seminar!

Do you begin to feel anxious, nervous, or overly stressed before an exam?  Many students study material for an exam and do well on the review, but when it comes time to step in the classroom and put pen to paper for a test, they draw a blank.  This week’s seminar will help provide students tools to use to overcome test anxiety.  The Counseling Center will be presenting this week on signs of test anxiety and how to conquer test anxiety.

Effective Research Strategies

This seminar will not be like your traditional workshop of becoming familiar with the library! We will discuss techniques for researching in the library databases as well as how to effectively use Google as a literary search engine. We will also be discussing the difference between peer reviewed articles and non-peer reviewed.

WEPT Preparation Seminar

Are you wondering what the WEPT is or when you may need to take the WEPT? This week’s topic is on preparing for the Written English Proficiency Test (WEPT). WEPT is designed to determine academic writing of undergraduate students. This workshop will help students prepare for the WEPT as well as inform students of the process of and procedures before taking the WEPT. The purpose of this seminar is to help students understand the reason of WEPT and to prepare for the test when it comes time for them to take it.
