Etiquette and Job Hunting Dinner – October 5

By , September 28, 2010 9:06 am
Etiquette is made up of significantly more important things than knowing which fork to use during a meal.  Employers may feel that if you can’t be trusted not to embarrass yourself in business and social situations, you may lack the self-control necessary to be a good employee.  Etiquette is about presenting yourself with the kind of polish that shows you can be taken seriously and professionally.  Etiquette is also about being comfortable around people and making them comfortable around you!  Additionally, technology has drastically changed the rules in the workplace.  New hires are faced with new rules and policies regarding using e-mail at work, using cell phones, MP3 players, and texting.  Get to know the corporate culture as to the use of electronic devices in the workplace.

Please join us on Tuesday, October 5, where you will learn not only which fork to use, but how to present yourself in a polished, professional manner.  Tickets are $10 and available at UMKC Career Services, 4825 Troost Building, Room 205 or at the Bloch School Career Services Satellite Office, Room 16. Cash and checks are accepted. Hurry and get them today – the deadline is September 28!
