Position Highlights

Our interns experience a wide range of opportunities during our 10-week summer internship program. We are looking for candidates who have an interest in the financial services industry and bring with them enthusiasm and passion for working in a fast-paced, growth-centric environment. Interns will be exposed to a variety of departments but will have an emphasis in marketing.
Each intern will be paired with a manager and a mentor for the summer and support individual as well as group projects. This is a 40-hour a week role and is a paid position. The internship begins Monday, May 23rd and concludes Friday, July 29th.

Primary Responsibilities

Leadership and execution:

 

  • Accept a pre-determined summer project and see it to conclusion
  • Present to leadership the findings / outcomes of summer project
  • Learn about the retirement industry and Empower’s administration practices
  • Demonstrate our core values of “our clients, our people and winning together”
  • Participate in mini-rotations with other departments of the intern’s choosing
  • Bring added value to their team and demonstrate leadership and critical thinking

 

Manage drivers and components that determine outcomes:

 

  • Prioritize and focus on individual tasks to meet concurrent deadlines
  • Draft, edit, and proofread all written content, whether original or standardized
  • Push and pull specific content through the approval pipeline (compliance, legal, marketing operations, etc.)
  • Urgently respond and properly escalate errors or concerns
  • Support overall project management of team’s book of work

 

Ownership and advocacy:

 

  • Best practices and innovation in all materials and collateral – everything must reflect Empower Retirement’s value proposition and be the best in the marketplace
  • Establish trusted and positive working relationships with team and internal stakeholders
  • Excel at delivering service and consultative input to achieve goals
  • Comply with FINRA and other regulatory requirements in content, disclosures, and delivery methods
  • Support team members, volunteer to help, show initiative, and positively impact team dynamics and morale
  • Cover for others as a back-up during vacation, illness, or other out of office periods
Qualifications
  • Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a degree in business, communications, graphic design, and/or journalism with a minimum GPA of 3.25
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, knowledge of grammar and proofing necessary
  • Working knowledge of PC environment and high competency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint) and aptitude to quickly learn other systems / software
  • Analytical – can systematically gather relevant information, interprets various types of data, and applies logic to solving problems and making decisions with fast turnaround times
  • Adaptable to a fluid work environment and spikes in workload
  • Strong partnership skills with an ability to work collaboratively within a team and develop solid working partnerships with peers and colleagues
  • Project management and organizational skills required with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Follows process and procedure and makes recommendations on improvements to close gaps, shorten turn times, or improve outcomes
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently or within a group
  • Proactively asks questions and seeks help in order to successfully achieves goals and objectives while in an autonomous environment
  • Approaches work with a sense of curiosity
  • Works with a customer service mindset and is comfortable providing input to achieve goals
