Sporting Kansas City is looking for confident, hard-working, and innovative college or graduate- level students who are interested in an opportunity to earn course credits toward the completion of their degree, while obtaining practical experience in the world of professional sports. We have redesigned our internship program to provide valued learning and training opportunities that can be applied throughout the sports industry, hands-on experience, and the chance to be immersed in the culture and brand of Sporting Kansas City.

We are currently looking for candidates interested in an internship with our youth soccer program. The intern will be exposed to the various elements associated with Sporting Kansas City’s youth academy program, athletic partnership program and other youth soccer initiatives, such as soccer clinics and camps. The intern will also be introduced to the behind-the-scenes operations of Sporting Kansas City home games.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the youth development team by gathering research for potential member organizations in the Sporting Club Network
  • Assist with partner activation and fulfillment on game day and at events
  • Hold coaching and/or administrative roles at SKC’s youth-driven events, including, but not limited to, camps and clinics
  • Assist in youth development department’s communications, online presence, & digital media (i.e. social media, event recaps, & blog writing)
  • Assist in fulfillment of Sporting Club Network and Academy Affiliate partnership program
  • Support the youth development team with the preparation, production and data collection of mid-season & end-of-season recap reports
  • Help organize, promote, and facilitate soccer clinics, camps, coaching education, and other community-driven events
  • Support any projects, initiatives, and other administrative duties related to Sporting KC’s youth development department

REQUIREMENTS

  • At the time of the internship, have completed at least your sophomore year at a four-year accredited college institution or be enrolled in an accredited graduate program
  • Must provide proof that you will receive credit through the internship toward the completion of your degree
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (based on 4.0 scale)
  • Available for home matches and other events throughout the internship session (primarily evenings and weekends)
  • Interest and experience in competitive sports is highly preferred
  • Soccer knowledge and skills necessary; coaching and/or playing experience highly preferred
