THE MUSEUM
The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures educates, inspires, and delights adults and children through the museum’s collection and preservation of toys and miniatures. The museum, located in Kansas City, contains the world’s largest collection of fine-scale miniatures and one of the nation’s largest antique toy collections on public display.

TIME COMMITMENT
Approximately 132 hours (11 weeks, 12 hours per week) between June 1-August 13
WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, 12:30-4:30pm
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Education interns will facilitate the museum’s summer children’s program series, which explores various aspects of the collection through tours, workshops, and gallery presentations. Interns will gain meaningful professional experience in museum education and public speaking by delivering public programs and leading pre-structured, hands-on workshops. The education intern team will also work collaboratively to create a new program that will be presented at the end of the summer session. Additionally, interns will complete readings and participate in weekly discussions about the museum field and museum education.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal applicants will have completed their junior year in college. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, public speaking experience, and demonstrated experience working with the public. Must be a self-starter with high standards, exemplary problem solving skills, and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment. History, art, education, and museum studies students are encouraged to apply.
