Journalism / Copywriter Internship-Bridging The Gap (BTG)

Bridging The Gap (BTG) works to make the Kansas City region sustainable by “connecting environment, economy and community”, and is the premier organization in the area providing environmental education and volunteer action through more than 1,000 volunteers annually.  We are currently seeking an unpaid Journalism / Copywriter intern.

Basic Internship Description

Do you want to make your voice heard on environmental issues? Would you like to dig deep to find the truth behind “green washing” articles? Now is your chance to research and write about pressing environmental issues. Bridging The Gap will launch a new website in February 2016 and we are looking for a journalist/copywriter intern to assist Bridging The Gap’s Program’s Manager in creating online content for our website, blog, Facebook, Twitter and Instragram accounts. Topics will be eco-friendly in focus and the applicant should possess a strong knowledge of environmentalism and/or live a green lifestyle. The intern’s work will impact thousands of citizens on a monthly basis so it is critical that only applicants living an eco-friendly lifestyle apply. You must submit three to four writing samples, along with your resume and cover letter, to be considered. Highest priority given to candidates that are also proficient in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. If applicant has design experience, please submit up to five samples of original design work, in addition to the writing samples.

Major Responsibilities:

We are looking for college applicants that are highly creative and motivated. You must be a self-starter and able to conduct work with little supervision. This is an unpaid internship with a minimum commitment of 10 months, ending December 15, 2016.

Skills/Experience Needed:

Must be a seasoned writer and able to provide samples of work. College students preferred. The applicant must be a good researcher; able to conduct interviews; photography skills are helpful.

 

Time Commitment:

Day/Wk: One day per week (Monday through Thursday)

Hours/Wk: 4

Internship Timeframe: Approximately March 1 – December 15, 2016
