MARKETING/PROPOSAL
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:
In this role, you
will help support an ambitious team that thrives on collaboration and
innovation. Garney Construction is a growing, employee owned water and
wastewater general contractor currently looking for 2020 Summer Marketing
Intern(s). The Marketing Summer Internship position is intended to provide an
opportunity for a currently enrolled college student to gather knowledge of marketing
from a construction company perspective through proposals. This position will
involve learning about solicitation and proposal development processes, while
also touching on graphic design, our Cosential database, and communications. We
offer hands-on experience to leverage your classroom knowledge and convert it
into professional skills. Successful internships often lead to full-time
positions after graduation. The marketing internship is a full-time position
over a three-month period.
Responsibilities:
• Assist and learn about the development, quality check, and assembly of
high-quality qualifications / winning proposals that complies and meets
solicitation requirements.
• Participate and assist in proposals as needed through coordination efforts,
brainstorming sessions, message development, writing, editing, and production execution.
• Participate in go/no-go decisions, kickoff meetings, storyboarding, and
proposal reviews.
• Provide administrative support to the Marketing team (resumes, assist with
developing presentations, Cosential tasks, and photo library).
• Learn to manage deadlines and responsibilities assigned through a
responsibility matrix.
• Learn to work with graphic designers to translate narrative concepts into
supporting graphics.
• Learn Cosential database and assist with inputting project and personnel information.
• Visit project sites to gain more technical industry knowledge.
• Provide support for development of our communications department.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing
a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communication, Journalism, or related
field
• High level of motivation — a go-getter willing to go the extra mile.
• Excellent organization and written/verbal communication
skills.
• Active listener with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work well with others in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to deliver quality work that meets requirements and deadlines.
• Strong editing skills and attention to detail with the ability to
double-check your own work.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) as
well as social media.
• Experience in Adobe InDesign is a plus!
