Hours Per Week: Up to 20 hour per week

Job Summary
Responsible for the organization, publication, and delivery of social media content for the KU Memorial Union. Works with all areas of the KU Memorial Union (Bookstore, Dining, Event Services, Human Resources, and Marketing/Media/Programs (MMP)) to author and publish digital content related to those areas. Acts as ambassador for the KU Memorial Union. Individual must demonstrate the ability to take information and present it in a clear, engaging way to an audience. Must be creative and demonstrate the ability to write strategically. Must be eager to work in a fast-paced environment and ready to learn new skills on the job. Must be able to collaborate with others and complete group projects as assigned.

Supervision Given and Received
Receives direct supervision from the Digital Content Coordinators of MMP. Position does not have supervisor responsibilities. Position is exempt from overtime.

Essential Functions
1. Works with KU Memorial Union units and MMP staff and other MMP interns to create content that fulfills information objectives and reaches intended audiences.
2. Works within the structure and requirements of available digital platforms to present information in a clear and navigable way.
3. Serves as one of the KU Memorial Union’s social media representatives, responsible for the strategic scheduling of social media posts and interactions when appropriate.
4. Assists with the creation/modification of style guides pertaining to Union content platforms and presence. Upholds branding standards on digital platforms.
5. Attends events outside of regular weekly work schedule as assigned to gather content and publish on social media. Engages event attendees to create excitement on social media channels.
6. Assists in tracking stats for accounts and creating analytical reports for presentation to collaborators.

Additional Responsibilities
1. Assists with graphic design work and photography as needed.
2. Additional duties as assigned by the Digital Content Coordinators of Marketing, Media, and Programs.

Required Knowledge and Skills
1. Knowledge of how top social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, IG, etc.) function and how to correctly convey info via those channels.
2, Proficient written and non-written communications skills.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Preference given to currently enrolled KU students.
2. Fluent in English.
3. Must have a valid government-issued ID.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience with developing or maintaining a written “voice” for a brand.
2. Knowledge of graphic design, video editing and production, and photography (preferably using tools in the Adobe Creative Suite).
3. Experience with creation and evaluation of objective-driven social media.
4. Experience with social media management tools such as Google Analytics, Sprout Social, Facebook for Business, etc.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
1. Experience publishing and managing digital content in content management systems such as Drupal and/or WordPress
2. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills
4. Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment

Minimum Qualifications
1. High school graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
2. Minimum 2 years experience in digital content management and working with content management systems
3. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
4. Working knowledge of social media platforms
5. Proficiency in standard business productivity software including Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint
6. Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience managing social media content for organizations or businesses
2. Experience in Google Analytics and related digital marketing resources and strategies
3. Experience producing photo and video content using a DSLR camera
4. Experience with graphic design and related software/programs
