Communication Internship-The Missouri Coordinated Campaign

The Missouri Coordinated Campaign is seeking applicants from UMKC for our fall internship program. At this critical moment in our country, there’s never been a more exciting or important time to get engaged by working on a political campaign.

Missouri has some of the most competitive and nationally-watched races of the cycle this fall, which presents a great opportunity for you to become civically engaged, make a real difference in a state that matters, and gain solid professional experience which applies to range of future potential careers.

Campaign work is very unique in that the environment is fast-paced, every day is different, and that the stakes are extremely high. Interns with this program will get hands on experience with executing effective political messaging, using various data and analytics platforms, and managing logistics. In addition, interns will develop skills pertinent to persuasive communication, personnel and time management, and working in a high-stakes environment.

Interns who go above and beyond the call of duty will be able to quickly take on important leadership roles within the organization, giving you a chance to further your impact and prove yourself professionally in a workplace where all eyes are on you.

Finally, interns who prove themselves with a good attitude and a diligent work-ethic will make professional connections which will almost certainly lead to future employment, if desired. Most campaign jobs prioritize hiring applicants who have been campaign interns, and for those who want to move into other lines of work, campaign internships build skills which are more than applicable to most other jobs.

Scheduling and hours are flexible, and can be worked out on an individual basis. Don’t sit this one out – it’s too important to stay on the sidelines this year.
