Digital Content Internship
The Andrews McMeel Universal Digital Products department is offering a paid Digital Content Internship. Positive candidates will be available immediately to start with up to 12-18 months of availability.
The intern will report to the Digital Editorial Director. At a minimum, this intern will work anywhere from 20-40 hours per week. The schedule will be produced in accordance with student’s availability, internship objectives, and department needs. The internship is available to provide equivalent credit hours per sponsoring university’s guidelines.
Position Scope

The Digital Products team offers paid internships that provide related experience in the following fields of study: Journalism, Digital Publishing/Media, Marketing and Communications, and Web/Data Analytics.
The Digital Content Intern is responsible for supporting the Digital Content team in its mission to make AMU’s consumer-facing websites daily destinations for our targeted audiences. The role is responsible for supporting the ever-evolving voices of AMU’s digital properties, which respect their readers too much to put them to sleep. All this to say: we need someone smart, talented, and fun to help us make cool things for cool customers at a cool company. The intern will be primarily focused on pitching, creating, and publishing content for PoshColoringStudio.com and other digital properties, including GoComics.com and Uexpress.com.
Essential Responsibilities
Our digital properties need all of the good stuff. Here are big ticket items candidates should know how to do, or can learn how to do quickly—mindful that the digital space demands new hotness at the speed of sunshine:
  • Conduct creator/staff interviews
  • Create adult coloring-related content (both written and visual; tutorials/how-to’s, trend, and inspiration pieces)
  • Create comics-related content
  • Create and manage site content through various Content Management Systems
  • Tag site content for SEO
  • Compile basic website analytics reports (downloads, views, shares, etc.)
  • Monitor site content to ensure freshness
Essential Skills
  • Your writing is clear and concise
  • You can easily pick up a new writing voices/styles
  • You have practiced AP style and can pick up on house style(s)
  • You can easily navigate Microsoft Office, and have basic skills in Adobe Suite (especially Photoshop and After Effects)
  • You take feedback well and easily adapt to change
  • You can research and absorb new material efficiently
  • You can NAIL deadlines
  • Other helpful skills:
    • You have some CMS experience
    • You can take a decent photo
    • You have drawing and coloring skills
    • You have basic video editing skills
    • You have sequential storytelling skills
    • You are familiar with website data and analytics
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completed at least three years of Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field
  • Hard-working, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and articulate team player able to adapt quickly to changes and new challenges
  • Work history that demonstrates a solid work ethic and initiative
  • An interest in and passion for the entertainment industry
