FOX4 WDAF-TV is offering paid internship opportunities for college students during the summer and fall. The internship program will pay an hourly minimum wage.
Responsibilities Specific internship opportunities are subject to change by semester. Here are some of the opportunities we offer:
News Producing – one intern per semester
Intern will work under the supervision of the Assignment Manager and the Executive Producer. Intern will learn to write news stories and put together a show rundown. Emphasis will be on students interested in line producing newscasts or digital content. Instruction is also provided in making graphics for stories. Applicants must be college junior/senior or graduate level students. Internships run 12 weeks, up to 40 hours per week.
News department internships are scheduled to begin concurrently with the student’s school calendar and run for 12 weeks; there is no provision for time off for spring break or similar vacation interruptions. Scheduling is worked out to the mutual satisfaction of the student and the WDAF-TV department head.
News Producing – Sports concentration – fall semester only
Intern will work under the supervision of the Sports Department and the Executive Producer. Intern will learn to write news stories and work on high school football Friday night program. Instruction is also provided in making graphics for stories and shooting and editing sports video. Applicants must be college junior/senior or graduate level students. Internships run 13 weeks, 16-24 hours per week. Must be available to work every Friday from end of August to mid-November.
Scheduling is worked out to the mutual satisfaction of the student and news department management.
Qualifications
- Students must have some college level experience in the area where they wish to intern.
- Internships run for 12-13 consecutive weeks.
- Interns must be available a minimum of 16 hours per week, to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
- Interns must have a valid driver s license.
- Freshman and sophomore students are not eligible.
- Interns must have a valid drivers’ license or state I.D. card.
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
