The digital analyst intern position is responsible for using marketing analytics to develop analytics implementation and optimization plans integral to our clients’ overall business strategies. This position will partner with clients and internal stakeholders to design and implement measurement and optimization plans that capture appropriate performance metrics and increase ROI. The intern will also help conduct social listening, brand and audience research, competitive analysis and evaluation of user behavior. The digital analyst intern will analyze data to uncover insights and deliver actionable recommendations to clients.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Guidance

• Work with VML account teams and clients to understand and document business, technical, and reporting requirements, and develop solutions to ensure success
• Help clients expand their usage of web analytics tools and drive internal client user adoption
• Assist with the selection and implementation of web analytics and online marketing tools
• Assist clients with tracking and enhancement of online and offline marketing efforts
• Assist with social listening, audience research and competitive analysis

Analytical Support

• Define site/campaign marketing metrics related to channel and analytics dashboards with input from agency/client; analyze and report holistically on a weekly basis
• Create, review and submit weekly insight reports for overall marketing dashboards; include metrics definitions and suggestions for further analysis
• Exhibit high-level expertise working with multiple data sources (site analytics, social, media, email, transactional, traditional media, etc.) to analyze performance of campaigns and marketing efforts and make recommendations for improvements
• Define and manage optimization tagging, including web, email, online display media, etc., to ensure continuity across tracking and reporting
• Support all facets of the decision-making platform (click-stream, outcomes, analysis, search analysis, multivariate analysis) and work with web technology teams to identify gaps in data capture strategy and collaboratively implement enhancements
• Work with web testing teams to define, execute, analyze and present results of A/B and multivariate tests to marketing leaders and team members
• Assist with analysis of social conversation, channel performance, audience behavior, competitor performance, etc.

Typical Deliverables:

• Weekly, monthly, quarterly reports with insights and recommendations delivered via Excel spreadsheets, Keynote, BI tools or dashboard solutions
• Analysis of website behavior and customer experience
• Data consolidation and validation
• Coordinating tags and tracking parameter implementations
• Social listening and audience analysis reports
• Effective and persuasive presentations (verbal and written) for teams and clients

Required Skills

• Junior, senior or nontraditional student in college or recent graduate with coursework or experience in a related field
• Passion for data and analytics
• Eager to learn
• Experience with Excel
• Understanding of social, SEM/PPC, SEO and online campaigns
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of end users and technical resources
