Student Content Intern – Marketing, Media, and Programs KU Memorial Union

$9.99 an hour – Part-time, Internship

Responsible for the organization, publication and delivery of online content for the KU Memorial Unions. Maintains and elevates the institution’s profile through the website of the KU Memorial Unions and related social media platforms. Works with all areas of the KU Memorial Unions (Bookstore, Dining, Event Services, Human Resources, and Marketing/Media/Programs) to author and publish digital content related to those areas.

Supervision Given and Received
Receives direct supervision from the Digital Content Coordinator of Marketing, Media, and Programs. Position does not have supervisor responsibilities.

Essential Functions
1. Works with KU Memorial Unions units and Marketing/Media/Programs staff to create online content that fulfills information objectives and reaches intended audiences.
2. Works within the structure and requirements of available digital platforms, including the unversity’s KU.edu website templates, to present information in a clear and navigable way.
3. Serves as one of the KU Memorial Unions’ social media representatives, responsible for the strategic scheduling of social media posts and interactions when appropriate.
4. Assists with the creation/modification of style guides pertaining to Union content platforms and presence.

Additional Responsibilities
1. Responsible for editing and publishing content on union.ku.edu.
2. Additional duties as assigned by the Digital Content Coordinator of Marketing, Media, and Programs.

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
1. Experience publishing and managing digital content in content management systems such as Drupal and/or WordPress
2. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills
4. Desire and willingness to work in a collaborative, innovative, flexible and team-oriented environment

Minimum Qualifications
1. High school graduation or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
2. Minimum 2 years experience in digital content management and working with content management systems
3. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
4. Working knowledge of social media platforms
5. Proficiency in standard business productivity software including Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint
6. Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience managing social media content for organizations or businesses
2. Experience in Google Analytics and related digital marketing resources and strategies
3. Experience producing photo and video content using a DSLR camera
4. Experience with graphic design and related software/programs
