Program Description:
- Stipend internship to students enrolled in communication studies.
- Average of 15 hours per week, with supervision by the Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement.
- Research and develop information from current and past donors for a Heritage Wall (donor recognition).
- Open to students enrolled in courses for fall 2016.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain an accurate database of current and past donors
- Coordinate and manage interview times, dates, and locations
- Manage the room reservations for interviews
- Record and transcribe interviews
- Write a clear, concise story for each donor
- Gather, scan, organize, and return photos from donors
- Assist in special event coordinating (Fall=Ages of Excellence, Spring=Father’s Day Run)
- Maintain a functional and organized space
Requirements for Candidate:
- Communicate in a timely manner—both written and oral
- Maintain confidentiality
- Present one’s self in a composed and professional manner, especially with regard to donor interactions
- Attention to detail
- Self-motivation, hard-working, and creativity
- Ability to multi-task
Internship Objectives:
- Develop/enhance written and verbal communication skills, especially interpersonal skills
- Learn to develop concise and appealing stories
- Demonstrate ability to meet deadlines
- Build/enhance professional portfolio
