Andrews McMeel Universal – Digital Products Internship

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

  • AMU’s Digital Products team offers paid internships that provide related experience for the following fields of study: Web Design/Usability, Development and Management, Marketing and Communications, Digital Publishing/Media, Web/Data Analytics and Advertising/Sales
  • Internships are a minimum of 20 hours per week. The intern supervisor manages interns’ time. Interns adhere to a weekly schedule produced by the intern supervisor in accordance with students’ availability and department needs.
  • Positions are available for the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Our next internship starts beginning of August 2016. Preference is given to candidates who can commit to more than one semester, and up to 12 months.

RESPONSIBLITIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Manage, develop and monitor content updates and tagging for AMU websites, including GoComics.com, in support of creator, partner and team requests
  • Provide project management for smaller digital initiatives, and support of larger project execution, including project requirements documentation and schedule management
  • Weekly review and analysis of SEO performance data, and ad hoc keyword analysis
  • Ad-hoc data collection & compilation utilizing Google Analytics, Quantcast, Microsoft Excel, and similar tools as required
  • Daily monitoring of analytics data, including research and communication of noteworthy occurrences, as well as for unexpected tag errors
  • Monitor ad creative, ad delivery and consumer feedback of issues via daily site checks and PubNation tool to identify sources of dangerous or inappropriate ad content from our partners
  • Respond to ad net email inquiries and support partner prospecting efforts
  • Support A/B testing efforts to optimize site experiences and ad revenue
  • Provide research and reporting support across Digital Products team functions, from user testing and competitive analysis to data reporting and analysis
  • Ad trafficking support (for longer engagements only)
  • Support QA efforts for project releases and maintenance updates
  • Contributing to regular Digital Products team meetings and brainstorm sessions
  • Partner with Digital Marketing team to support collaborative initiatives
  • Occasional design support for candidates with the right skills

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Hard-working, self-motivated, poised, and articulate team player able to adapt quickly to changes and new challenges
  • Interest in creating compelling interactive experiences for digital audiences, with demonstrated experience a plus
  • Exceptional communication skills – both written and verbal, with desire to create compelling web content
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills – ability to convert data into insights and manage multiple efforts
  • Quick learner with natural and deep curiosity
  • Work history that demonstrates a strong work ethic
  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team, with demonstrated experience balancing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and deliver results
  • Attentive to detail
  • An interest in and passion for the entertainment industry
  • Graphic design skills are a plus
  • Fluency and literacy in the English language
  • Minimum of 60 hours of college credit earned

INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVES

  • Develop a strong understanding of the role digital products play in a business strategy, from delivering revenue to building client and customer relationships
  • Learn how to create and manage digital properties for a business
  • Gain exposure to a variety of roles and related skills required for management and execution of digital products, including product management, project management, content and web conversion optimization, SEO, web analytics and advertising sales management
