INTERNSHIP JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Aug. – Dec. 2016). Paid internship.

Public Relations/Marketing internships support the overall goal of generating goodwill toward the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District and its philanthropic arm, the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation (LSEF). Interns will engage in the development of a favorable image of the LSEF in the eyes of constituents, voters, and the public at large.

Interns must have the ability to adapt to a fast-paced, multi-faceted non-profit environment. They must be professional, reliable, enthusiastic, creative, self-motivated, organized, willing to ask questions, and attentive to details. In addition, the ideal interns will enjoy working with people, will be willing to help coordinate events (specifically a 5K Race), will be computer savvy, will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and will remain focused on the most-effective methods of reaching targeted markets.

 

Interns must have completed their sophomore or junior years in a 4-year program with a degree focus of marketing, public relations, communications, entertainment media technology or non-profit management. It is preferred, but not mandatory, that the intern is a graduate of the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District and has a current GPA of 3.5 or above.

 

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Helping implement and track Annual Campaign details
  • Participating in all aspects of planning and executing Race for the Future 5K Fundraising Event (must be available to work the event on Saturday, October 8, 2016)
  • Assisting in organizing fall and winter fundraising/outreach events
  • Drafting content for website
  • Drafting and editing press releases
  • Designing promotional materials
  • Working with student scholarship program
  • Updating donor database and running reports
  • Other responsibilities as needed

 

Internship hours are flexible.
