Job Description
The Public Policy & Programming division of The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce is seeking 1 to 2 student interns to work on research and special events during the Summer of 2016.
Internship duties will vary but may include the following:

Issue and policy research and reporting
• Special event coordination and support
• Database management
• Website content monitoring and preparation
• Materials preparation (including possible opportunities for copywriting, design and photography)
Internship Dates and Hours:
The Chamber would like interns to work from the middle of May to the end of August. Hours and daily schedules are flexible and may range from 2 to 5 days per week.

About the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce:
The Chamber is the Kansas City region’s largest business advocacy organization, which serves a 13-county area with an approximate MSA of over 2 million. Its membership base consists of over 2400 member companies on both sides of the Missouri/Kansas state line. Primary areas of work fall under: Connecting businesses with opportunities to encourage growth, public policy initiatives that impact the business community; providing resources for small and diverse businesses; and working with other organizations to bring more businesses to the Greater Kansas City area.
Desired Skills
Candidates must be self-directed, good communicators, organized and proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Journalism, English, and political science majors are encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity for students to see how a chamber of commerce operates and observe interactions and decision-making among community and business leaders.
