Intern will experience practical application of human resources to supplement classroom learning. Take primary responsibility for completing substantive projects important to the Human Resources division. Also, perform a variety of clerical, administrative, project and customer service functions to support the Human Resources team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist all Human Resources (HR) staff with various projects as needed
  • Create and implement marketing and communication plans for major employee initiatives, including those related to benefits and wellbeing
  • Research trends in advertising for open positions, focusing on strategies to recruit top IT talent
  • Assist with creation of pre-employment screening matrix to guide background checks for various positions
  • Assist with review and update of Citywide position descriptions
  • Research best practices for employee separations
  • Support transfer of I-9 files into new electronic system
  • Assist with annual legalities training for employees
  • Create identification badges for new employees
  • Create, file and maintain personnel and medical files
  • Act as back-up receptionist


Experience & Education:

Education: High School diploma required; college coursework in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
Experience : Sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate standing, graduate students and recent graduates considered. Excellent research, writing and communication skills required. Facility with MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required. Experience using Prezi preferred.
