Intern, Tivoli (Spring 2020) Paid Internship for Spring Semester

Role and ResponsibilitiesThe Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art seeks an intern passionate about film to help communicate and grow audiences for the museum’s new Tivoli at the Nelson-Atkins independent film program. The focus will be on researching and creating social media content using the confirmed films, with the intent to grow the social media following and engage with Tivoli online community. Tivoli interns can expect to help with many aspects of Tivoli programming as well as marketing campaigns for the museum. This position requires a 10 hour/week time commitment. Schedule to be finalized each semester between student and department schedules. Accountabilities

  • Assist with social media management which may include:
    • Creating original content for Tivoli Facebook and Instagram pages
    • Compiling, condensing and editing copy
    • Taking or finding images for posts
    • Researching films for compelling social media content
    • Assist in editing Tivoli promotional materials, including web and email content

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Proficiency with social media
  • Applicant should be currently enrolled in or have completed an undergraduate or graduate program in Film Studies, Marketing, Communications, Education, Art History, or Museum Studies
  • Flexibility in regard to assignments
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with adult audiences and comfortable with public engagement
  • This staff member must be flexible to negotiate a variety of situations and personalities and display an unfaltering positive and professional attitude when engaging with the public and fellow staff
  • Strong attention to detail, organization and communication skills
  • Literate in Microsoft Office applications, familiarity with Adobe Photoshop/InDesign/Creative Suite a plus

Physical DemandsThe Tivoli Intern must be able to sit for long periods and manually operate multiple forms of digital interface (i.e. keyboard, touch screens, etc.).  The position requires frequent movement between Museum locations.
