2019 Marketing and Communications Intern – Lockton

Lockton is seeking candidates for its Brand & Communications summer internship, based in its Kansas City office on the Plaza.

The intern for the Lockton Communications team will begin as early as May 15, 2019 and conclude in August. Dates will be based on the intern’s availability.

The Communications Intern will work full-time as a member of an established global communications team with deep involvement in strategic communications projects including:

· Branding

· Content Marketing Communications

· Media Relations

· Social Media

· Event Planning

You will work with experienced colleagues in the Communications team, helping grow a global business. The intern will write news releases, research and write client success stories, report and write for the internal newsletter, develop web content, craft social media posts, conduct research, prepare business presentations, assist with Lockton’s 2019 report, and perform an array of professional duties that help Lockton win and keep clients. You will work with people at all levels of the organization, including senior executives and front-line professionals.

This internship is part of Lockton’s formal intern program. You will also work with other interns on a research project and presentation as well as attend professional development programs together.

We are looking for individuals majoring in Journalism (Strategic Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, or News), Marketing, or a similar degree.

Our interns typically emerge from the program with stronger writing and presentation skills, as well as an improved understanding how a global business operates.

This is a paid internship.

REQUIREMENTS:

Successful candidates for our program have shown balanced success in both academics and extracurricular activities. The GPA requirement is 3.0 and successful candidates are typically involved in community service, student government, college clubs, or outside work. Leadership in extracurricular activities is an added plus.

Excellent business and newswriting skills, strong verbal communication skills, and an aptitude with social media tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are required as well. Lockton prioritizes students entering their senior year, with prior intern experience, but students beginning their junior year may be considered as well. Legally able to work in the United States.
