Graphic Design Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The graphic design intern supports the marketing and communications team by developing creative, graphic solutions including print, digital, social media, and ongoing projects. The design intern will gain valuable insight into a high- performance marketing environment. This is a temporary, paid internship. The Intern is asked to commit to 180 work hours to be completed over a set, prescribed time period in alignment with their coursework.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Support and work with marketing team on internal and external design projects.

Assist with concept, design and execution on various digital, web and print design projects including such materials as landing pages, website, direct mail pieces, marketing collateral, digital assets for advertising, social media and more.
Ensures consistency, accuracy and compliance with required GU standards, producing accurate and high-quality work across all University departments.
Stays current of developments in graphic and web design and makes recommendations for changes that may benefit GU.

EDUCATION/ WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED SKILLS:

College major in new media, graphic design or a visual arts related field; or associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field

0-2 years of experience in the field of graphic design, marketing or in a related area
Proven experience graphically executing creative concepts
Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator is required
Ability to effectively communicate orally (in person and by telephone) and in writing.
Strong attention to detail

Ability to multi-task, yet maintain close attention to detail and timeliness of work production.
Ability to work in a positive team-oriented manner with a variety of people (students, faculty, staff, administrators, vendors, and members of the general public).
