Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks men to walk a mile in women’s shoes. Walking in women’s shoes helps men better understand and appreciate women’s experiences, thus changing perspectives, helping improve gender relationships and decreasing the potential for violence.
Since 2007, over 1,000 people have participated in Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® at UMKC. Their participation helped raise awareness of rape, sexual assault, and gender violence, as well as funds for the UMKC Women’s Center and Violence Prevention and Response Program.
The 2020 Walk will be held on Tuesday, October 6 and we have made many changes this year as precautions against COVID-19. Seethe description below for details.
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Join us in solidarity on this day and take a self-guided, self-paced, socially-distanced, one-mile walk around campus, around your neighborhood, on a trail, or in a park and contemplate your own responsibility in creating a safer campus at UMKC.
