Upskirting

For anyone who hasn’t heard in one of the latest ways to objectify and violate women, upskirting is the practice of taking pictures of women’s crotches while they’re wearing skirts. Many of the men who do this use their cellphones and have become so adept at taking pictures that women are often unaware. This article from Salon discusses the trend in-depth:

Perhaps my “favorite” quote from the article is this one by John Morris, general counsel for the Center for Democracy & Technology:

“If you don’t want to be photographed walking the street, don’t walk down the street — it’s a public street.”

Because women needed another reason to be afraid to go outside.
