The UMKC Bassoon Studio is expanding! Audition for Fall 2024

Fall Audition Dates

  • Saturday, February 3, 2024
  • Monday, February 19, 2024

2024 Audition Repertoire

Undergraduate

Auditions will include:

  • Two contrasting solo works or movements (etudes are acceptable)
  • Full-range Major scales – all slurred
  • Full-range Chromatic scale – all slurred

You may (but are not required to) select repertoire from the list below:

  • Jenni Brandon, Colored Stones
  • Johann Galliard, Sonatas 1-6
  • Adolphus Hailstork, Bassoon Set
  • Paul Hindemith, Sonata
  • Francisco Mignone, Sixteen Waltzes
  • Georg Philipp Telemann, Sonata
  • Concertos by Vivaldi or Weber
  • Etudes of Ludwig Milde or Julius Weissenborn

Graduate

Auditions will include:

  • One study from Ludwig Milde 25 Studies in Scales and Chords
  • Three additional contrasting solo works or movements
  • Three contrasting orchestra excerpts

You may (but are not required to) select repertoire from the list below:

  • Marcel Bitsch, Concertino
  • Any work by Eugène Bozza
  • Jenni Brandon, Colored Stones, Double Helix, or Compostela
  • Fransisco Mignone, Sixteen Waltzes
  • Ludwig Milde, 50 Concert Studies
  • Concertos of Hummel, Mozart, Vivaldi, or Weber
  • Charles-Camille Saint-Saëns, Sonata
  • Jeff Scott, Elegy for Innocence
  • John Steinmetz, Sonata
  • Alexander Tansman, Sonatine or Suite
  • William Winstead, Enigma
