Dr. Cynthia Petrie is committed to providing the best care possible for each and every patient she treats. Dr. Petrie has been practicing at the UMKC Dental Faculty Practice since 2001. Dr. Petrie is a Board-Certified Prosthodontist. She is the Chair of the Department of Restorative Clinical Sciences at UMKC School of Dentistry and holds the title of Dr. George Tanaka Hawaii Professor of Restorative Dentistry. Dr. Petrie has earned Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees from the University of Athens, School of Dentistry and UMKC School of Dentistry. In 2000, she completed a residency in prosthodontics at UMKC School of Dentistry and received a Certificate in Prosthodontics and a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology.

Dr. Petrie earned tenure in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at UMKC in 2006 and has been teaching dental students the principles of prosthodontics in the clinic and didactic courses since 2000.

Dr. Petrie has completed more than 1,000 hours of continuing education, has 37 published articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed dental journals, presents at national and international dental meetings, serves as an expert witness for the Missouri Dental Association, is a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Prosthodontics and the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and serves on the Test Construction Committee for the American Dental Association National Dental Board Examination including the Integrated National Dental Board Exam.

Dr. Petrie is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists. She continues to maintain membership in numerous dental organizations including the: American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, American Association of Dental Research, and Missouri Dental Association. Dr. Petrie has obtained fellowship in the American Dental Education Association Leadership Institute. She co-chairs the ACP (American College of Prosthodontists) Scope of Practice committee and is the Vice Chair of the Predoctoral Education committee. She is the Missouri president for the American College of Prosthodontists and a past president of the OKU Honor Society.

Dr. Petrie is married and has three boys, a pet dog and a pet cat. During her free time, she enjoys traveling and playing tennis.
