Junyi Nie


About

Junyi Nie is a Chinese pianist. She started studying piano with her mother at the age of four. She holds a Master’s degree in piano performance from Boston University studying with Gila Goldstein and a Bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Wuhan Conservatory of Music studying with Liping Jiang. Currently, Junyi is pursuing a Doctoral of Music Arts degree in piano performance at UMKC Conservatory with Alon Goldstein.

Junyi is passionate about teaching. She started teaching in 2014. She was an instructor at Boston University where she taught group piano and aural skills. Now, Junyi is a GTA at UMKC Conservatory, where she teaches group piano to undergraduates. Junyi has accumulated various teaching experiences in the past six years. She shows a strong ability to build great relationships with students and to help students achieve success in their piano studies.

As a performer, Junyi has played in different venues in Asia, Europe as well as the US. Junyi won the second prize in the Helen Taylor Johannesen International Piano Competition in 2015. In 2016, she won the first prize in the piano duo group in the Sixth Asian Music Competition. From 2015-2018, Junyi was the piano accompanist for Hubei Charity General Association Choir. With the choir, Junyi went to several cities to play charity concerts in China.
