About the Festival

The UMKC Conservatory Honor Choir provides rewarding music experiences for elementary, middle and high school students and their directors. Nationally recognized conductors and UMKC faculty host a full schedule of rehearsals, masterclasses, and professional clinics, offering in-service time and personal growth. 

This festival will be led by Dr. Jennaya Robinson, Dr. Charles Robinson, Conservatory Choral Faculty and Conservatory Vocal Faculty, along with guest clinicians.  

The 2022 UMKC Honor Choir Festival will include the world premiere of a commissioned work by Brandon Boyd. 

Festival Timeline for 2022

  • Festival Dates: February 11-13, 2022
  • Nominations open: November 22, 2021
  • Nomination Deadline: December 22, 2021
  • Acceptance list posted: January 3, 2022
  • Registration Opens: January 3, 2022
  • Registration Deadline: January 21, 2022
  • Placement Videos Due: January 21, 2022

Total Cost of Festival: $120.00 (per student)

  • Includes: all rehearsals, masterclasses, clinics, festival t-shirt, music and meals taking place between rehearsals.
  • Students may opt to add a 30-minute private lesson with one of our vocal faculty during registration. Private lessons are limited to one per student and would cost an additional $40.00.  

Note: Tuition does not include housing at a hotel. If you will need hotel lodgings, the Hampton Inn on the Plaza will offer a discounted rate to those participating in the festival. A link to the discounted rate at Hampton will be provided in the Festival Info Packet sent to registered participants. They have provided options that will allow students to book individual rooms or for groups to book together. Groups/students staying in a hotel will need to provide their own overnight chaperones and transportation. Students will be chaperoned by festival staff while on campus for the festival.
