This past Friday, the RooHorns performed at the annual UMKC Conservatory fundraising event Crescendo! performing the J.D. Shaw arrangement of "Nearer My God to Thee" by Sarah Adams and Lowell Mason. Members of the studio also performed with the Conservatory Orchestra, Conservatory Wind Symphony in conjunction with the University Singers, and the Volker Brass quintet as part of the event.

The RooHorns go to Midsouth
On Friday October 12th, members of the UMKC Horn studio made their way to Wichita State University for the 2018-2019 IHS Midsouth Horn Workshop. The RooHorns attending the workshop listened to recitals, participated in masterclasses, toured the various exhibits, and competed in the orchestral excerpts and solo competitions.

UMKC Conservatory Fellowship Opportunities for Horn 2019-2020
The University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance will have two fellowship opportunities for incoming graduate horn students. The Volker Brass fellowship brass quintet and Plaza Winds fellowship wind quintet will each be taking auditions for the horn position.

Alum Steve Lewis to Study in Paris – 06/15/2016
Steve Lewis, Jr. (MM conducting, 2012) has been awarded the EAMA/Florence Gould Foundation Michael Iovenko Fellowship to study conducting in Paris, Summer 2016 as part of the European American Musical Alliance at the historic Schola Cantorum.
The month-long program is patterned after the teachings of the legendary Nadia Boulanger with many classes lead by her former students.

OSU Horns visit UMKC – 04/17/2016
April 17, 2016 - Professor Lanette Compton and her "Power Babies" (8 of her finest students) visited us in Kansas City this past weekend to spend some time meeting each other, learning from each other, and eating KC BBQ together! After a meet-and-greet Friday afternoon, we filled Saturday with performances, masterclasses, and playing side by side. Alum Natalie Brooke Higgins Appointed to Schwob School of Music – 03/21/2016
March 31, 2016 - RooHorns Alumna Natalie Brooke Higgins (DMA, performance), founding member of Alias Brass Company, has been appointed as Assistant Professor of Music in Horn at the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University in Georgia, beginning August of 2016.
