January 29, 2016 - The UMKC Wind Symphony had a fantastic time performing at the Missouri Music Educators Association (MMEA) 2016 Workshop/Conference in beautiful Osage Beach Missouri. The Wind Symphony performed a band arrangement of Ottorino Respighi's Feste Romane for school teachers, band directors, students, and interested musicians from all over Missouri. CSO Principal Horn to give masterclass at UMKC – 10/28/15

Acting principal Horn of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Daniel Gingrich, will be doing a masterclass for UMKC students in the Grant Recital Hall on October 28th, 2015 from 1-3pm. Prof. Hackleman Plays for the Pope – 09/29/15

The UMKC Conservatory's faculty and students often perform in prestigious settings. We are pleased to note that Martin Hackleman, Artist in Residence and Associate Teaching Professor of Horn, performed for Pope Francis' September, 2015 visit to the United States. Hackleman performed during two of the Pope's masses in Washington DC. The first mass was at St. Matthews Cathedral where the Pope addressed the American bishops. Conservatory student Benjamin Bacni, who is in his final year of a Master's degree, and alum Cynthia Simpson (2015, Artist's Certificate) both of whom study(ied) with Martin Hackleman, took first and second place, respectively, in the University Division at the International Horn Competition of America, August 28–30, 2015, held at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Matthew Haislip’s set of Etudes Published – 08/06/15

Matthew Haislip (DMA, horn performance, 2015) has had his set of original etudes for horn published by BrownWood Publishing, available here. This set was a component of Dr. Haislip's dissertation. Locally, Dr. Haislip is an instructor at Washburn University and Calvary Bible College; serves as assistant conductor of the Kansas City Horn Club; and has been a performing member of the Kansas City Civic Orchestra (principal horn) and Missouri Symphony Orchestra.
