The RooHorns Perform at Crescendo!

This past Friday, the RooHorns performed at the annual UMKC Conservatory fundraising event Crescendo! performing the J.D. Shaw arrangement of "Nearer My God to Thee" by Sarah Adams and Lowell Mason. Members of the studio also performed with the Conservatory Orchestra, Conservatory Wind Symphony in conjunction with the University Singers, and the Volker Brass quintet as part of the event.

The RooHorns go to Midsouth

On Friday October 12th, members of the UMKC Horn studio made their way to Wichita State University for the 2018-2019 IHS Midsouth Horn Workshop. The RooHorns attending the workshop listened to recitals, participated in masterclasses, toured the various exhibits, and competed in the orchestral excerpts and solo competitions. Alum Steve Lewis to Study in Paris – 06/15/2016

Steve Lewis, Jr. (MM conducting, 2012) has been awarded the EAMA/Florence Gould Foundation Michael Iovenko Fellowship to study conducting in Paris, Summer 2016 as part of the European American Musical Alliance at the historic Schola Cantorum. The month-long program is patterned after the teachings of the legendary Nadia Boulanger with many classes lead by her former students. April 17, 2016 - Professor Lanette Compton and her "Power Babies" (8 of her finest students) visited us in Kansas City this past weekend to spend some time meeting each other, learning from each other, and eating KC BBQ together!
