Be a Host for Thanksgiving

The International Student Affairs Office invites you to participate in the MISSOURI WELCOMES YOU program, through which international students and scholars are invited to share a Thanksgiving meal with a host family. We know this opportunity will allow all to exchange cultures and traditions during the Thanksgiving season. The United States is home to a diverse population and each family celebrates differently, so we encourage students to be curious, ask questions and share in the hosts’ traditions. Students will also be able to share about their culture and holidays celebrated in their home countries. Our goal is to pair international students and scholars so that two or more students or scholars are the guests of each host family.

If you are interested in opening your home to host international students and scholars for a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, Nov. 28, please fill out this form:

Hosts and student or scholar guests will be informed of their matches by Wednesday, Nov. 20. At that time, host families will work with their guests to make transportation arrangements for Thanksgiving Day. Many international students and scholars do not have cars and will need assistance with transportation that day.

If you have any questions, please email Morgan Ramsey at Thank you for being part of the UMKC family!
