Dear Sociology Students:
Dr. Huberman, the Sociology Club/AKD Advisor, is now accepting applications for membership to the International Sociological Honor Society, Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD). For more information on the benefits of AKD membership, please complete: AKD Membership Application. To become a member of AKD, you must:
- Show a strong interest in Sociology by having completed at least four (4) courses in Sociology at UMKC,
- Have earned a GPA of 3.0 in your Sociology courses at UMKC
- Have earned a cumulative/overall GPA of 3.3
If you believe you meet these requirements, here’s what you need to do:
- Run a PlanMyDegree audit report and e-mail a copy of the audit to Dr. Huberman (hubermanj@umkc.edu), the Sociology Club Faculty Advisor. For information about PlanMyDegree and how to print your audit, you can visit the following link: http://www.umkc.edu/registrar/majors-degrees/planmydegree.asp.
- After Dr. Huberman confirms with you that you qualify for AKD honors via e-mail, please complete/sign the attached application, and attach a check or money order for $40.00. Please bring your application and check or money order to the Sociology Main Office in Haag 208 and give them to the Administrative Assistant, Rita Hayes by 4:30pm on Friday, 4/28/17. Your check or money order should be made out to “Sociology Club, UMKC” and please write “AKD” on the memo line. The $40 is a one-time fee that covers the cost of processing your induction as a life-time member of AKD, your AKD Member Certificate and the AKD honors chords which can be worn at your commencement ceremony.
