UMKC's Mel Tyler receives ACE Award from Frank Ellis, Chairman of Board, Chamber of Commerce

Mel Tyler, Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, has earned the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Ace Award for achieving excellence and his positive impact on the university’s mission. He was one of four leaders selected by the Chamber.

The Ace Award is a prestigious business and community salute to culturally diverse mid- and senior- level managers who achieve excellence in the manners in which they display leadership, solve problems, impact profitability, exhibit corporate values or make significant contributions to an organization’s overall success.

“Mel has consistently provided solid leadership to initiatives, policies and practices to one of the most important cornerstones of our organization’s mission – the education of our students,” said UMKC Chancellor Leo E. Morton. “Mel is responsible for achieving the strategic enrollment goals for the university, including full oversight of enrollment services for student recruitment, admissions, registration and records, financial aid and scholarships, retention and student success.”

Tyler also facilitates the collaborations necessary to the university’s primary goal in the strategic plan: place student success at the center.
