Veterans Day has long been an occasion for reflection on the contributions and achievements of the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. In 1919, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Armistice Day to commemorate the end of World War I. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower and Congress changed the name of the holiday to Veterans Day to recognize all those who have served this country. [Read more →]
