UMKC Women’s Center 40th Anniversary finale

Funds raised will support the programs and services

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Missouri-Kansas City Women’s Center will hold the last in a series of 40th Anniversary celebrations with a finale that includes the premiere of a song written and performed for the event by the Barclay Martin Ensemble.

The gala event is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at the River Market Event Place, 140 Walnut Street, Kansas City, Mo. Funds raised from the gala will support the Women’s Center’s programs and services, including Her Art Project, Women in STEM projects and the Violence Prevention & Response Project.

“The gala is a way for us to bring together our supporters from UMKC and the Kansas City communities to thank them for supporting the Women’s Center not only during this past year, but for the past 40 years,” said Brenda Bethman, Director of the Women’s Center.

The music by the Barclay Martin Ensemble will include “So Beautiful,” a song written in honor of the anniversary. Individual tickets are $20 for students and $65 for everyone else. Sponsorships range from $115-$5,000. For additional information or to register, visit here.

During the evening, guests will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction, bidding on items such as a quilt by Kansas City fiber artist Nedra Bonds; a vacation home rental in Cape Cod; original drawings custom created during the event by local artist Shane Evans; and a house concert with Barclay Martin catered by Chef Celina Tio’s restaurant, JULIAN.
