Staff Council sponsors events

The UMKC Staff Council began Staff Appreciation Week, May 18 – 22, with a host of events to say “thank you.”

The Staff Conference for Professional Development on May 19 addressed the ways staff can see themselves contributing to the UMKC Strategic Plan and to student success.

The Staff Appreciation Lunch on May 20 included a nutritious lunch by Sodexo, games, vendor exhibits and chances for staff to win UMKC swag.

UMKC Chancellor Leo E. Morton addressed luncheon attendees.

“The work you do is not lost on us,” Morton said. “We celebrate you and your service today, because this is your university. You put your best foot forward when meeting and dealing with potential students and their families, you help current students get what they need to be successful, you help the campaign grow and you turn out on a work day to make this place shine  – and you do it all with courtesy and kindness.”

For the rest of the week, schools and departments will continue to recognize staff in their own ways. The appreciation week will end on May 22 with the UMKC Bookstore offering staff a 25 percent discount on UMKC gear and gifts.
